Meet Jenny

Hi there, I’m Jenny McAlister (she/her)! I am a registered psychologist and the founder of Strathearn Psychology.

In my office, we connect, learn, and grow together! I love working with adults, couples, families, and emerging professionals by providing clinical supervision and mentorship. Whether working with clients or supporting the next generation of psychologists, it’s always a joy to be a part of someone else’s personal growth.

As the director of Strathearn Psychology…

I am passionate about creating a community where people can step back from life and set down their worries. My team and I embrace a straightforward and customizable approach – you deserve a place to share, laugh, cry, or feel however you need to. The struggle is real and needs to be normalized! Once we validate that, the path to better health and communication becomes easier to walk.

A few humblebrags…

  • I’ve sat on the province’s Mental Health Review Panel as a public member

  • I am a former member of the Oral Ethics Committee of the College of Alberta Psychologists

  • I was named one of Avenue Magazine’s Top 40 under 40 (2019) for my work on community and individual health

  • I’m an educator at various post-secondary institutions in Edmonton and currently serve on the Board of Governors of the King’s University

  • I’m a 2022 recipient of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Medal for Community Service

When I’m not in the office, I’m out in my community!

I love being with people! Concerts, plays and festivals are some of my favourite things. I also love the learning and living that comes from travel. I also spend lots of time volunteering as the producer of the Strathearn Art Walk.

My words to live by are…

“Sometimes you gotta be ambitious about rest, about nurturing your soul and your heart.”
