Individuals, Couples & Families

Individual Youth

12 years old - 18 years old

Written consent must be provided by all custodial parents or guardians in order for the individual to participate in therapy.  A discussion with all parties will be initiated at the beginning of therapy to outline the agreed upon confidentiality arrangement between teen and parent(s).

Individual Adult

Clients will be asked to sign an informed consent prior to the beginning of therapy.  A high value is placed on confidentiality of the information shared.  Every effort is made to ensure the protection of discussions in sessions.  However, if during the course of therapy, information emerges regarding a client’s intent to harm themselves or another, or information regarding the abuse of children or persons in care, then there is a legal duty to report and thus confidentiality will be broken and the appropriate authorities will be informed.  It is also possible that the courts might require disclosure of client records if they contain information related to legal proceedings.  Under no other circumstance will information be release without the individual's knowledge and signed consent.

Couples

All couples sessions are conducted with both individuals in the couple present.  Individual sessions are not engaged in as a part of couples therapy.  If individual sessions are warranted, an appropriate referral will be made for this specific purpose.

Pre-Marital Counselling

Couples work through a number of skills and discussion topics led by Jenny including a review of the Prepare/Enrich inventory which couples complete ahead of time (www.enrich.ca).  This counselling is conducted over a 5 session series and typically occurs prior to marriage but can also occur in the context of long-term relationships or following the marriage date.  Please note that there is an additional fee for the scoring of the inventory.

Families

All family sessions are conducted with all individuals in the family present.  Individual sessions are not engaged in as a part of family therapy.  If individual sessions are warranted, an appropriate referral will be made for this specific purpose.
